Almost 70 000 representatives from different species were registered by experts and volunteers from Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds, Association “Green Balkans” and Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water – Bourgas. Last year 172 000 water birds feed at the water basins. Traditionally the birds prefer Vaya Lake and Mandra reservoir. Bourgas Lake is populated by Common Pochards and Northern Shoveller, as well as by 100 000 Pygmy Cormorants. There were observed also 61 White-headed Ducks.
