The winner of the bird competition won binocular – the weapon of the ornithologist 06/17/2013

The first prize of the bird competition– binocular, won Viktoria Dimitrova from “Hristo Botev” school in Dolno Ezerovo quarter. The competition was organized by Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds and RIEW – Bourgas. Viktoria obtained almost maximum points in both rounds.
The second place won Grigor Hristov who is also a student from the same school. Both winners are students of Krasimira Gavrilova – supporter and member of BSPB. Nikola Ovcharov from “Sv. Kniaz Boris I” school took third place. Nikola and Grigor won Bird guide of the Balkan Peninsular. To win the competition was very hard for them as Valimir Stoev from “Hristo Botev” school and Martin Georgiev from “Sv. Sv. Kiril and Metodii” school showed excellent knowledge about the birds.
All participants received awards from the organizers of the competition. The most active of them took part in the regular monitoring of the lakes implemented within the project “LIFE for the Bourgas Lakes”, funded by EU program LIFE+. Thus the young birders had the opportunity to practice their knowledge and BSPB experts expect that one day they will become real environmentalists. The winners will have the pleasure to visit Nature Conservation Center Ëastern Rhodopes” in Madzharovo and take part in nature conservation camp, organized for the best participants in the bird competition from Bourgas and Haskovo regions.
14 students from several Bourgas schools participated in the second round of the bird competition. This competition is one of the oldest education initiatives of BSPB. Many of the winners of the competition in the past today are part of BSPB team and work in different parts of the country for the protection of bird species and their habitats. The participants in the second round of the competition were selected among 70 students that took part in first round organized at schools in April.
